History
Wind Capital Group was founded in 2005 in the state of Missouri in recognition of a growing need for renewable energy – especially from wind. Upon initiating a business partnership with John Deere and Associated Electric, Wind Capital successfully launched the state’s first four wind projects.
In 2008, Wind Capital Group took on an investment from the Dublin, Ireland based NTR, a development and infrastructure fund with investments in ethanol, solar, recycling and the former majority owner in the international wind development company, Airtricity. Infused with capital resources, Wind Capital’s first wholly-owned wind asset, the 150MW Lost Creek project, went commercial in the spring of 2010.
Development has expanded throughout the Midwestern United States and most recently, into the Southeast, a region with relatively low levels of renewable energy generation and virtually no wind projects. In parallel, Wind Capital has built a highly-skilled and experienced team in house capable of all facets of development, construction and operations of wind power projects.
Today, in 2012, the future for Wind Capital Group looks as bright as it ever has. Construction of Wind Capital’s 201MW Post Rock wind project in Kansas is well underway and expected to be fully commercial in the third quarter of 2012. Wind Capital also looks forward to commencing construction on its 150MW Osage wind project in Oklahoma. |
