LOST CREEK

The Lost Creek Wind Project is the first wind project completely owned and operated by Wind Capital Group. Featuring the combined experience of Wind Capital Group and its investors, strong community support, partnerships and the ability to use local resources, the 150 megawatt (MW) wind project was completed in 2010, making it the largest in the state to date. Located in DeKalb County, Missouri, the 100, American-made, 1.5 MW General Electric (GE) wind turbines span more than 23,000 acres just outside of the town of King City. Power from the wind turbines is being purchased by Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI), for use by its member cooperative utilities throughout Missouri. The power is delivered through the N.W. Electric Cooperative, Inc’s 161 kV transmission system.

On April 16, 2009, Vice President Joe Biden attended the official announcement of Lost Creek at the ABB manufacturing facility in Jefferson City, Missouri. Joined by Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and representatives of Wind Capital Group, AECI, ABB, GE Energy, United Auto Workers, and RMT, Vice President Biden stressed the importance of the Lost Creek Wind Project and similar projects as it pertains to re-energizing the American economy, creating new jobs across the supply-line and establishing energy independence in the United States.
